Owner Tim Carnes has been building hot rods and custom bikes since the early sixties.  Most were for himself or friends.  Seems he would no sooner finish one than he had a desire for a different type, sell the newly completed project and start on the new one.  In the last few years he and his friend Dale Welsh (paints under the name of “noodles”) have been turning out bikes that have won trophies from groups like ABATE, River Club Resort and even Easyrider Magazine.
Two years ago Tim sold his business (electrical contracting) and retired to pursue his hobby of custom bikes and cars.  With the fuel crunch a custom bike that could economically get around town seemed like a fun project that people would want.  It would have to be something he would be proud to ride thus the XCELSIOR was started.  The 1910 styling was a hit from the start.
At bike runs and shows where the XCELSIOR has been shown the enthusiasms was unexpected.   It has become an immediate hit.   There were request for a more modern custom version, thus the Bobber is finishing prototype and will be in production soon.
Look for the EXCESSIOR, Bobber and the stock Whizzers at the next bike show or custom car show you attend.
The firm still does custom paint, and builds custom bikes on an order basis.
